Samantha Mewis – USA Soccer Cup
Samantha Mewis will be making an appearance for the U.S. Women’s World Cup Team. At six feet tall, she will be playing the midfield position. After being selected as an alternate to the US Olympic team in 2016, Mewis was determined to improve upon her game and make this World Cup team. Her sister Kristie also plays professionally as well, and they are both each other’s biggest supporters.
Mewis during her senior year in High School was considered to be the nation’s Number 1 recruit for the class of 2011. From there, Samantha went to UCLA and won the 2013 national championship in her junior year. Samantha was selected with the 4th overall pick in the 2015 NWSL draft by the Western New York Flash. There she was selected as a finalist for the NWSL Rookie of the Year award. Mewis now plays for the North Carolina Courage (the team was rebranded) and has won two NWSL Championships. You can expect that Samantha will be picking specific spots during the game when on the field.
