Alex Morgan – USA Soccer Team
Alex Morgan, the 29-year-old American soccer phenom, is known for being one of the best players in the world. She is a forward for the Orlando Pride in the NWSL and on the United States national team. Born in 1989 in California, Alex Morgan is the daughter of Pamela S. Morgan and Michael T. Morgan, who found her passion for soccer quite early at the age of 7. She once wrote down on a yellow sticky note that she wanted to be a professional soccer player, but only until she turned 14, did she really start playing.
Although she always wanted to make her career in sports, she still got herself admitted to the University of California to study political economy through a sports scholarship which was granted to her. While pursuing political economy, she started her sports journey with the California Golden Bears where she performed impeccably and secured the title of top scorer by scoring 8 goals in the first year, 9 goals in the second year and during her final year of graduation, she scored 14 goals and gave 8 assists in the Golden Bears.
It was just the beginning of a career full of accomplishments as just after graduating in 2011, she made her professional debut in the women’s soccer team by becoming the first one to be on the draft list of the WPS. She assisted her team to win the WPS championship. In the same year, she joined the national team and became the youngest member at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup where she helped her team to win the silver.
Her professional career reached its zenith at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, held in London she scored the match-winning goal and managed to bag her first Olympic medal, a gold, with the American team.
