Julie Ertz - USA Soccer Cup
Julie Ertz is playing the position of midfielder and will be making an appearance for the U.S. Women’s World Cup Team. Julie from a kid always dreamed about playing soccer professionally and could never envision a future where she wasn’t. Julie and her husband Zach Ertz, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, started the Ertz Family Foundation. This charity will help create more opportunities in sports and education for children.
Ertz played for the Santa Clara Broncos from 2010 to 2013. Julie was taken 3rd in the first round by the Chicago Red Stars in the 2014 NWSL College Draft. Ertz was named the 2014 NWSL Rookie of the Year. Throughout her time there, she also played internationally in the 2015 at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Julie has been known to be very aggressive on the field with heavy tackles. She is a very versatile player, and with her new role in the midfield, this has given her more of an opportunity to be in scoring positions for the team.
